We are looking for an FEM Engineer (m/f/d) in the field of energy technology at our Erlangen location as soon as possible. The position is available within a 35-hour workweek.
Your responsibilities as an FEM Engineer (m/f/d):
- Evaluation of the impact of Flexibility Upgrades on Heat recovery steam generators‘ (HRSG) fatigue in existing Combined Cycle Power Plants (CCPP)
- Support for HRSG fatigue assessment and design optimization in new CCPP projects
- Contribution to online fatigue monitoring system (FMS) projects
- Creation of 3D models for HRSG components
- Execution of combined transient thermal and mechanical FEM simulations for stress analysis
- Fatigue assessment according to EN 12952-3 standards
- Analysis and optimization of Power Plant Startup curves
Your profile:
- Extensive experience with FEM software, preferably ANSYS Mechanical, for structural analysis and simulations
- Proficiency in 3D-CAD modeling for designing and analyzing components
- Basic knowledge of Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) and their operational principles
- Familiarity with industry standards and codes such as EN 12952 and ASME
- Experience with scripting languages like Python and MATLAB is advantageous
- Understanding of materials, welding techniques, mechanical processing, and component dimensioning is beneficial
- Knowledge of power plant products, components, services, and markets in the industrial power plant and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) sector is a plus
- Excellent proficiency in English, with German language skills considered an advantage
